Opinions on baby carriers/slings/or wraps?
Hello everyone,
I am having some trouble deciding what is the best infant carrier, baby sling, or baby wrap. I have been doing a lot of research and am unsure on which ones or ones are the better ones! I am in some need of help and opinions! My husband and I recently purchased a convertible car seat instead of spending all the extra money on an infant car seat and then buying a new one in a year. So now I need to find something to carry our son in when we got out. Please help me!!!

From my experience I say dont go for a sling, I tried to use one and could never get the knack, my baby seemed too big and long (he was over 10 pounds at birth) to fit into it and I didnt feel he was secure in it at all. I ended up using my old baby carrier from my first bub and though its hard to do housework with, thats not what they are for anyways lol. Yep I would go with a carrier, they are especially good for grocery shopping, keep baby quiet. I have never tried the wraps but they look awkward to put on and remove
I really thing a pram is far better option and you will get far more use out of it then a carrier or sling. I’ve used a baby bjorn sling and as I have back problems found it very hard on my back. Also my baby was far more content sprawled out in there pram. A carrier is something you will only use for about 6 months at most depending on your babies weight and believe me as your baby gets bigger the slings are very uncomfortable and the same goes for the carriers. Pram or even a light weight stroller which reclines for a newborn is a far better investment. Some sling and carriers cost as much as stroller which is a waste for something you will use for only 3-6 months. If your adamant getting Ebay is the best place to pick them cheap.
We have a baby bjorn and could not live without it!!
Sleepy wrap… it’s a sling like the baby bjorn but it’s only 38.95.

I’ve given them to so many people as shower gifts and everybody has absolutley loved them and said they were the most comfortable. The site has a lot of testimonials that are really great.
Best of luck!
I love my Maya Wrap Ring Sling the best, especially for a little baby. You can breastfeed in it (and no one will be able to tell, if that is your preference). It easily accommodates a child from newborn to toddler stage, and is fairly easy to learn to use.
When your child gets a little older, the Ergo is awesome. It’s similar to the popular Bjorn in that it buckles on, but it holds baby in a comfortable seated position rather than hanging by his crotch. It also distributes baby’s weight far better than the Bjorn, so it can be used for months and months after most people have tossed their Bjorns in the closet. It’s been tested up to 90 pounds (which would be ridiculous!) and is recommended up to 40 or 45. I think it’s worth the price–$105 retail. Do try to find one used if you can, though, as they are very durable.
I definitely don’t regret buying these carriers (or, um, the other ten or so I have; they are like shoes to me). It’s a pain in the butt to carry a heavy car seat carrier around, and you’re not even supposed to be doing that at all when you’re freshly postpartum. It’s also no fun to push a bulky stroller through crowded places and have all the people you encounter putting their dirty hands all over your baby. (Yeah–they will!)
One little thing about the convertible car seat: If you are delivering in a hospital, be sure they will let you go home without an infant seat. My hospital had a pretty strict policy on how this was to be done, as in the baby had to be buckled into the seat before she left the room. This time I’m having a homebirth so it won’t matter, but I have a feeling we’d have been running out to buy an infant seat if we hadn’t already gotten one before going to the hospital.
Congrats on the new baby and have a great birth!
Go with the sling.
